Introduction to the Celebrity WebQuest Assignment

Have you ever stood in a grocery store check out line and found your eyes drawn to the gossip magazines. It's one of America's guilty pleasures. Whether we like to admit it or not, we are captivated by the lives of the rich and famous. The problem is that there is a lot of information about famous people that is totally bogus. For this WebQuest, you will be choosing celebrities and looking up websites to learn their true stories.
You will have the option of working with a partner for this unit if you choose. Together, you will select a celebrity to study. You can choose almost any celebrity as long as they are alive, are famous throughout the entire United States, and live a relatively clean life. . Gangster rappers (Eminem, Ice T) or particularly controversial celebrities (Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan) are out. Special note from Ms. Dorsey: If you'd like to select a famous person who has died within the past ten years or so, please see me.

Here's a site where you might find a celebrity you'd be interested in learning more about. Remember that we're looking for celebrities who are still living, or with permission from the teacher, someone who has died within the past decade.

We will go around the room to pick our celebrities in class, so have a couple of options in mind in case another group chooses your first choice.
